Objective of the game
In ice stock sport, players try to shoot their ice sticks as close as possible to the target “Daube” (a round rubber disc with a hole in it).
Gameplay
- Two teams compete against each other (up to 4 players per team).
- The teams take turns shooting their sticks towards the target.
- If the target is moved by a stick, the new position is retained.
- If the target lands outside the playing field, it is placed back on the centre cross.
- After four shots per team, a round (‘Kehre’) ends.
- After each round (‘Kehre’), the teams are checked to see which is closer to the daube.
Scoring system
- Points are awarded per round – they are added up at the end of all rounds.
- 3 points: awarded to the team whose stick is closest to the jack.
- 2 points: for each additional stick from this team that is closer to the jack than the opponent's best stick.
- The opponent receives no points in this round.
- Maximum per round: 9 stick points.
- Only sticks that touch the target area count.
Specifics
- The daube may be moved during the game, which makes it exciting.
- Tactics are crucial: you can either play close to the daube or deliberately knock your opponents' sticks away.
